   Delivering Advanced Fingerprint Solutions

Algorithm Developer

Warwick Warp is looking for energetic, motivated and passionate individual to join our team.

Vacant Position:  Algorithm Developer

We offer an exciting opportunity in a small, dynamic and fast-growing company to help build and develop leading-edge software.  The position will focus on the development of our biometric technology, and on delivering the next generation of this technology.  We are looking for a scientific programmer to join our team working on leading edge and award winning fingerprint matching software. The position will be on the research and development side of our business.  We are aiming to recruit a talented individual who will help enhance our suite of novel, fingerprint matching algorithms and to deliver this technology to our customers.

The ideal candidate should have a good university degree in computer science, or in a scientific discipline with a strong mathematical content.  Expertise in algorithm development and implementation is desirable but not essential.

As well as any expertise in algorithm development some experience in a research environment, in image analysis or computer vision, would be beneficial.   The applicant must be fluent in either C or C++, image processing and comfortable working across multiple platforms (Windows and Linux) as well as be able to interpret code written in other languages (primarily Mathematica). Knowledge of image processing and numerical algorithms is also necessary for this programming role.  Previous experience in the biometric industry is desirable but not essential.

The ability to work as part of a small team is important, although the nature of the role does mean you should be equally as capable of working independently.  Individual initiative will also be required to identify problems and explore potential solutions without explicit direction. A passion for solving computational problems and excellence in all aspects of the work is essential. Good English and communication skills are required.

The following skills are essential or desirable:

  • Ph.D. or MSc with 3+ years commercial experience in image processing,
  • implementing and testing algorithms and interfaces using C/C++ on Windows platforms,
  • advanced maths background in linear algebra and calculus (for example projection, reconstruction, filtering, estimators etc.),
  • prior experience with C/C++, Mathematica / Matlab and Linux/Unix environments,
  • image processing theory, algorithm awareness within recognition, enhancement, registration,
  • geometric transformations, quantization, and digital compositing operations,
  • scientific computing or numerical processing, and algorithm performance optimization experience a plus, and
  • startup (industry) experience and good fit to culture of venture-backed startup company.
