Warwick Warp Preprocessor SDK
Designed to process low quality fingerprints, reconstruct ridge flows, preserve features of interest and remove distortion and semi-permanent features producing a significantly improved output that enhances matching performance.
The Preprocessor SDK reconstructs the underlying ridge pattern even with low contrast or smudged images, removes semi-permanent features (such as scratches and scars), reduces linear and nonlinear distortions and at the same time preserves minutiae information. The SDK produces a normalised ridge structure in an image format, with all minutiae and other discriminative features preserved. It also provides a quality map of the image that highlights all the semi-permanent features including scratches and scars, and a list of minutiae with location, orientation and type.
In addition, the Preprocessor intrinsically removes distortion and produces a normalised image during enrollment and by reducing the need for pair-wise alignment, substantially increases the matching speed, specially on large scale databases.
Key Features
- Independent benchmarking by NPL and NIST has shown that the accuracy performance of the Warwick Warp AFIS SDK, which includes the Preprocessor SDK, is comparable with or better than established top tier AFIS companies.
- The Preprocessor SDK deals with the following fingerprint problems; shift distortion, rotation distortion, elastic distortion, scratches, low contrast, smudges, problem skin types, low minutiae counts and partial prints, producing enhanced images that can be matched with greater accuracy than before.
- The Preprocessor SDK aligns each fingerprint as part of the enrollment process so that stored images are all pre-aligned, which enables faster matching speeds.
- The Preprocessor SDK can identify and provide quality metrics for scratches, scars and distortion, enabling better quality decisions to be made at enrolment.
- The Preprocessor SDK creates an idealised model of the fingerprint image, with the unique features preserved. This enables a significant improvement in accuracy.
- The Preprocessor can be used with third party AFIS, or for the ultimate matching performance as an integral component of the Warwick Warp Matcher SDK.
